Workshop: Behind the Scenes at the Museum

Come behind the scenes with us to learn more about the curious world of the Bellfoundry Museum collection! From handbells to hammers and from oil paintings to oil canisters, there’s so much more to our heritage objects than meets the eye…

This FREE two-hour workshop will be led by Museum Director Chrissie Van Mierlo and Stephen Marsh of Redman Design, the specialist museum and exhibition consultancy behind the all-new Bellfoundry Museum.

On the day, you’ll get up close to our museum collections with an object handling session looking at some of our more unusual collection items. You’ll go behind the scenes at the Bellfoundry while building works are underway and get a sneak peek of what the new museum will be like, with Stephen introducing his concepts for the gallery spaces.

We kindly remind visitors that they must wear flat, completely closed shoes in order to tour the foundry. It may be necessary for visitors to wear some protective equipment on the day, which will be provided by our team.

This workshop is suitable for anyone interested in museum interpretation, display and design including students, professionals and anyone who is curious about the foundry and its history!
