Welcome to the Bellfoundry Museum
Step into the rich heritage of bellfounding at the Bellfoundry Museum, celebrating the craftsmanship behind some of the world’s most famous bells. Founded in 1986, the museum was the vision of Alan Berry, former Managing Director of Taylor’s, who saw growing demand for tours of this historic foundry.
What began as a modest project, supported by Charnwood Borough Council, has now become an award-winning experience.
Come and experience the sights, sounds, and history of this incredible craft—there’s something for everyone at the Bellfoundry Museum! All tickets are annual passes meaning you can return to the museum as many times as you like in one year.Â

The incredible craft of Bellfounding
In 2009 the museum’s future was uncertain, when Taylor’s Bellfoundry went into administration, but Taylors was saved by a consortium of dedicated bellringers and the museum evolved into the independent Bell Foundry Collection Limited, with investment from Alan and Chris Berry. Now run by the Loughborough Bellfoundry Trust, it continues to share the remarkable story of bell-making.
In 2023-2024, a full renovation of the museum improved accessibility and introduced two interactive galleries immersing visitors in the art and science of bellfounding. Curated by passionate experts, our award-winning museum* welcomes all ages to explore this rich tradition through hands-on exhibits and historical insights.
